Knit Retreat 2009

Well, the AGY retreat was halloween weekend and fun was had by all. I managed to finish 3 projects this weekend. One was almost complete: lace chevron neckwarmer, just started: chemo pi topper for a friend of a friend, and began and completed Kathleen's Faux Isle hat!! Hooray for me~! No big projects as I knew what to expect for this retreat. I wanted things to knit that would not require much brain power so I could socialize!! and so I did!

Knitting Retreat

This past month included a lovely knitting retreat. I certainly enjoyed myself and others in the beautiful setting of Lake Couer D'Alene. I met new friends and enjoyed old acquaintances. Truly a way to knit. Meals served, cleaning done. Enough said. Must do this again.

New Year means New Projects

New Year means new projects!!! Well, after I finish the projects that I have on needles that is! Do you ever feel that you can just completely quit a project? I know, I know, you already have put hours into it but for some reason... there it sits? Perhaps you are bored, perhaps you did not enjoy the pattern or the choice of yarn or perhaps the you just lost the joy of knitting that project.
I made a list of projects on needles... really an inventory of missing in action knitting needles. I knew that some of those projects just needed a sleeve or to be sewn together and could be done quickly if I just would do it!! So I did! I finished my Garn Studio summer sweater (in the middle of winter), finished my Noro reversed stockingnette cardigan, a pair of socks and a couple of hats. There are projects still sitting on needles and I am feeling that one or two of those projects will be discontinued as is in ripped out and abandoned with the yarn and needles available for a different project. I don't feel guilty about it either. Some projects seem like they will be enjoyable and it turns out that they just aren't.C'est la vie.
One project that I started and finished in a few days is the Classic Elite Uptown Braided Cable Hat made out of the luscious yarn Duchess. I liked this hat so much that I made another hat in a different color!!. The hat is loveliest in red (which I made for a friend) but it is pretty too in turquoise which I made for myself!!! Some people think that it is the pippi longstocking hat!!! I can totally see that but I still love it!!
